ZEXAL Ep. 2 - My Name is Astral

Finally! I finally did it! I finally wrote the summary and review for Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL Episode 2- "My Name is Astral"!!! Sorry it's so late. Also, this was posted on the 28th, but the blog says it's the 25th. Anyway, here it is! Summary: The Duel between Yuma and Shark continues, with Astral appearing before Yuma's eyes, but apparently no one else's. Astral is a spirit so Kotori and Tetsuo are unable to see it, so they think Yuma's hallucinating. Yuma has a brief conversation with Astral about him being a spirit. Astral reveals that he is in fact a duelist, and that it is his turn (Yuma responds "It's my turn!"). Yuma draws and Astral tries to play defense, but Yuma decides that offense is better. But, without taking Astral's advice, Yuma is backed into a corner, and Ryoga is about to obliterate his Life Points with his Revise Dragon. Astral then gives Yuma an Exceed Monster, Aspiring Emperor Hope. Overlaying his Gagaga Magician with his Ganbara Knight, Yuma Exceed Summons Aspiring Emperor Hope for the first time! Ryoga then gets the upper hand again with his Urchin Bomb Trap. Yuma then takes out the rice ball his grandmother gave him before, and eats it, proclaming it as his victory meal. He then flips and yells "Kattobingu da, ore!" He draws...and then falls to the ground on his back. With Yuma's quick thinking, he manages to outsmart Ryoga (and Astral) with a Spell Card and blast Revise Dragon to pieces, winning the Duel. Afterwards, Astral absorbs the Revise Dragon and it becomes a part of Yuma's Deck. Yuma, Tetsuo and Kotori then start celebrating, and Ryoga gives back Tetsuo's Deck. Yuma says he would like to Duel Ryoga again, and this time they won't bet their Decks. Astral then adresses Yuma's luck, and calls him "Toma". Yuma screams in annoyance "It's not Toma, it's Yuma!". Well, that's the summary, now for the long-awaited review. I actually kinda liked this episode, much more than the first episode. It was probably because I was still mad 5D's was gone and this took it's place, but I'm over it now. I still think the characters need to do more, and not just be annoying. But I really like Astral and his awesome voice. If only Yuma could be as cool as Astral. The Duel was pretty boring, it was just as boring as last time. The Duels aren't really exciting like the other YGO series, but I am okay with it. Kattobingu wasn't used that much, only a couple of times, which is good because it was getting annoying. I liked No.39 Aspiring Emperor Hope, he was awesome. I just wish they animated his hands better, like when he grabs the sword, it just wasn't good CG. I thought the flips Yuma was doing were pretty cool, even though he is way hyperactive. Overall, a good episode after the trainwreck first one. I hope it only gets better from here. To watch this episode subbed, click the title post and it will bring you to the video. Next episode: "A Sudden Incident during the Aftermath!" I should have the review up for that in a few days. Kattobingu da, ore!!! (or, YuJaYu out!!!)

The meaning of "Kattobingu!"

Hey, YuJaYu here! I am here to inform you of the meaning of the catchphrase of Yuma Tsukumo, the protagonist of Yu-Gi-Oh ZEXAL, known as "Kattobingu". I have gotten a lot of questions about what does it mean. Well, I am going to tell you. Literally, it means 'Pop Flying', but it can mean other things as well, such as: "Bring it to 'em", "I won't Give Up!" and "Rise to the Sky". For the first time, in a Japanese-dubbed Yu-Gi-Oh series, we have a catchphrase. In the English-dubbed version, we have a few catchphrases, Yugi's being "It's Time to Duel!", Jaden's being "Get your Game On!" and Yusei's being "Rev it Up!". I just wish the "Kattobingu" wasn't used so much. It is so so so very annoying when they used it at least six times in the first episode. Not a good start for your catchphrase, Yuma. YuJaYu out!!!

These are just a couple of cool pictures I found. The second one is hilarious and I wish it would happen in ZEXAL!

ZEXAL Ep. 1 - Kattobingu daze, Ore!

Hey, YuJaYu here, with info about Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL - Episode 1! First, the summary: "Set in the near future, Yuma Tsukumo aims to become a future Duel Champion. He's a 13-year-old with an energetic spirit, and with 'Kattobingu!' as his catchphrase, he challenges everything and believes in himself. But his Dueling skills are horrible and amateurish. In this future, Exceed Summons and Exceed Monsters are the favorite way to play. D-Gazers and D-Pads are used in Duels. One day, Yuma's friend Tetsuo Takeda has his Deck stolen from him, by Ryoga Kamishiro. To get Tetsuo's Deck back, Yuma challenges him to a Duel. Ryoga then shatters Yuma's most prized possession, his pendant given to him by his mother that he wears around his neck. This angers Yuma, so he shouts 'Kattobingu!' and gets the Duel on! Ryoga fiercely beats Yuma down with his Shark monsters, and Yuma has no way to counter. Then when Yuma is down to his last 1000 Life Points, a creepy door shows up and repairs his broken pendant. Then Yuma opens the door with the pendant, returning himself to the real world. Ryoga then Exceed Summons his No. 17 Revise Dragon! But then, when Yuma looks up, he sees a mysterious spirit hovering above him. Yuma asks, "Who are you?". That's it for the summary, now time for the review: First off, I thought the opening and ending songs were awesome. The episode, not so much. The character designs=UGH. They look horrible and there are too many colors. The D-Gazers and D-Pads=what's the point? They are just stupid accessories and act the same as a Duel Disk. The characters=just plain idiotic. Yuma's a clumsy moron, Ryoga's a deep-voiced bully, Tetsuo's just plain fat, Kotori is ineffectual, and they are all just plain STUPID! The catchphrase, Kattobingu, is repeated way too many times in a single episode for it to really have any meaning. The Duel Monsters are okay, I guess; except for the Exceed Monster. That was just weird. I mean, why couldn't they have stuck with Synchros? Those are what changed the game, and Exceeds will never, ever have the same impact as Synchros did. Also, all the characters have a tendency to over-act, Yuma and Ryoga especially. My overall review of the episode: 2/10, and it only got anything because of the theme songs. Hopefully it gets better next episode, because I really think this is a shoddy attempt at trying to make Yu-Gi-Oh more for little kids again, which it never was(except in America). Yuma's voice is too deep for such a grubby little child. Ugh, every other protagonist was amazing: Yugi/Yami, Judai, Yusei... and then Yuma comes along with his boringness and ruins everything. I guess that's it for now... YuJaYu out!!!

YGO 3D Movie gets US release date

Yo, it's YuJaYu! It looks like 4Kids finally has a release date for the DVD of Yu-Gi-Oh! 3D Bonds Beyond Time. Click the post title to take you to the link so you can see for yourself. SO AWESOME!!! It's being released on July 19th, just a week after my birthday! It looks like A&E Home Video is releasing the movie on DVD(and hopefully, Blu-Ray!). It's weird, because A&E has never released any animation on DVD(or aired any on the A&E Network). Oh well, at least we're getting the movie in America! MangaUK has licensed the movie for DVD and Blu-Ray to come out in the United Kingdom on May 30th, and in Japan it comes out on June 15th. I am so pumped for this! I hope it comes with the Malefic Red-Eyes Black Dragon card that was given out at theaters, because I didn't get one when I went to see it, boo hoo. It looks like the Japanese and UK versions will have the card though, so hopefully the US will too. That's it for this post! YuJaYu out!!!

More of 5D's to come!

Guess what? 5D's is not done yet! Katsumi Ono, the series director for 5D's, stated on his Twitter that on the final DVD of YGO 5D's in Japan there will be some extra scenes that weren't in the final episode! That means it might be an alternate ending, or it could show some more of Team 5D's futures, or it may show the rest of the team coming back to the city...the possibilities are ENDLESS!!! I cannot wait for them to release this DVD now! They better get off their butts and start making more DVDs, so they can finish with the older episodes and give me these extras! YuJaYu out!!!

Antinomy(Bruno)'s Death

You know what I just realized? In 5D's, Antinomy(Bruno) died saving Yusei from a giant black hole. But he never came back to life. Which sucks, because they've brought back dead people before, like the Dark Signers and the people they killed. The series always bring back everyone who died, including the original Yu-Gi-Oh and GX. I was hoping he would have been involved in the series finale, at least. Oh well, you can't have everything ya want. But in my case, I never get anything I want. Hmph! YuJaYu out!!!

ZEXAL Premiere

Hey, YuJaYu here! Just here to tell you all that the new series Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL premieres tomorrow in Japan, Monday the 11th. I will have descriptions and my own personal review of the episode by Thursday. If this and the second episode are not to my liking, then I will not post ZEXAL news. Here's hoping that ZEXAL doesn't suck! YuJaYu out!!!

4Kids Loses Rights to Yu-Gi-Oh!

Click the post title at the top to read! I cannot believe that 4Kids would do this and it is ruining the future of 5D's dubbed! I hope they don't lose the license, but I also hope that it gets a more faithful dub for the other series. ARRGH! I CAN'T DECIDE!!! YuJaYu out!!!

The End of 5D's

Well, here it is. The final episodes of Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's. I never thought it would end. Anyway, here's the description for Episode 153, "Clashing Souls!": Yusei and Jack continue their Duel to determine their futures. Crow, Akiza, Rua, and Ruka gain some inspiration towards their futures through watching the Duel and reflecting on times with Yusei and Jack. The Duel heats up with Jack summoning Exploder Dragonwing and Crimson Blader and Yusei summoning Nitro Warrior and Turbo Warrior. Finally, Jack calls his most powerful monster: Red Nova Dragon with an ATK power of 6000, thanks to it's special ability. Akiza comments that Jack is throwing his entire soul at Yusei and Crow wonders how he will respond." That is the description for 153, now this is the description for 154, "Shining Forth to the Future": With Red Nova Dragon staring him down, Yusei summons Shooting Star Dragon via Accel Synchro. Their fierce battle carries them all throughout New Domino City, with each of them not giving an inch and fighting with all their might and skill. Finally, Yusei wins with a combination of the low-level monsters he has always cherished and Junk Warrior to win the Duel. When their fight is settled, Yusei and Jack decide the path they will walk down, as do Crow, Akiza and the twins. Crow will travel to a pro league overseas, Akiza will study abroad to become a doctor, Rua and Ruka will go to live with their parents, Jack will go on to become the new Duel King, and Yusei will stay behind and protect New Domino City. Later, Akiza pronounces her love for Yusei before she leaves. Afterwards, Yusei talks to Ushio about his friends and their bonds, saying that the city is a part of him, and that he will envelop himself in it. The next day, Team 5D's gathers for one final ride on the highway with their D-Wheels and Duel Boards. They take off, and everyone has something meaningful to say as they leave. Jack says he will return as a true King. Crow says to watch out for him and his wnning streak. Rua thanks New Domino City and Ruka calls it their community. Akiza thinks that she won't say goodbye, since she will definitely be back one day. Then the Crimson Dragon comes and absorbs their Marks of the Dragon back into itself, and Yusei states that it has fulfilled its role. He races ahead of the team, stops and raises his hand. The others all high-five him as they head down the different roads of the highway. Yusei himself rides toward the center of the highway and tells everyone to ride with all their might in the Riding Duel called "life". He ramps into the sky and the last words of the series are: "Riding Duel, Acceleration!" Well, I guess that's it for the greatest Yu-Gi-Oh ever. It was a great run and it was so much fun while it lasted. I have been with this show since it first started 3 years ago to this day, and I have loved it all this time. I can't believe it's finally gone, even though I knew it had to end some day. But still, I had fun. I'll still be reporting on new Yu-Gi-Oh stuff, but not on ZEXAL. I will report on YGO-related news, but not ZEXAL anime or cards. It is even stupider than I thought, as I read the description for the first episode. So, I'll just stick with other stuff. I still have Cardfight!! Vanguard to watch, and maybe I'll find something else further down the line. 5D's, it's been a pleasure to know you and I'll always remember ya! YuJaYu out!!!
